One dog, one rope, & one big life change
Welcome! I'm Charles, founder and CEO at Mountain Dog Products.
In 2008, after being laid off from my corporate job, my wife and I took the opportunity to spend a month rock climbing in El Potrero Chico, Mexico, a place known as much for its stunning cliffs as for its many stray dogs. One of them started sleeping outside our tent every night. By the end of the trip, my wife said:
I'm not going home without this dog.
We named him Jefe, and with nothing else on hand, used a piece of our climbing rope as his leash.
Back in the U.S., that rope leash drew a lot of attention. People kept asking where they could get one. So I started making more by hand in our garage using recycled climbing rope. That's how Mountain Dog began.
Today, our leashes are used by top trainers, loved by everyday owners, and still made with the same values: strength, sustainability, and a deep bond between people and their dogs.
